Bio

Since her debut onto the San Francisco Bay Area music scene 1 year ago, Lindsay Erin has gained the attention of some of the best musicians in the business. Still developing her sound, singer-songwriter Lindsay Erin's unique voice is both strong and textured with a touch of blues and a measure of jazz with lyrics that are both personal and universal, and melodies that are at once complex and approachable. For the past three years Lindsay has been studying Indian classical vocals with the world-renowned musician, Maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Recently she was recruited to sing first soprano with The Oakland Bay Area Community Choir (OBACC), which is led by Bill “The Jazz Professor” Bell and performs African Spirituals around the Bay Area. From a very young age she devoted her time to studying vocals, dance and theatre. Showing enormous potential in all three areas of performance, she was noticed by a casting director from American Zoetrope and was cast in her first film role as Sara in Sofia Coppola's short film entitled "Lick the Star" which premiered on the IFC Channel. She later attended The Boston Conservatory after graduating from Redwood High School. Though still fresh on the singer/songwriter circuit, Lindsay Erin is truly becoming a performer to reach the masses.

Press Reviews

Lindsay Erin has a fascinating background that involves professional theater, several forms of dance, including ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop, gospel singing and even studying Indian classical vocals with renowed master Ali Akbar Khan.
Her music is a haunting blend of soul, pop and jazz that recalls adventurous artists such as Fiona Apple, Tori Amos and even Chantal Kreviazuk, the Canadian singer-pianist.

Thanks for the comments, folks! In all honesty, the first two songs on this site ("Heaven" and "Simple") were recorded during the second and third rehearsal with our full band in Nevada City (with rough vocal tracks added later), so we definitely didn't expect to win any award with them, so we feel extremely honored that the judges felt the songs were original enough to warrent me receiving the 2009 Best Pop/Rock Newbee award!! The song "Sunshine", however, was recorded in my husband/drummer, Paul "Zeke" Ezekiel's recording studio with Jon Hererra (editor for Bass Player Magazine) and Matthew Charles Heulitt (guitarist for Zigaboo Modeliste and Narada Michael Walden). "Down by the Brook" was recorded with Jon Axtel of Psychofunkipuss on guitar and bass...we are so greatful for the awesome tracks they added to those songs! Thanks to everyone who voted for me in this years USA4real Awards!! Peace thru music!!
