Bio

Singer/Songwriter Evan Spade was born in Quebec City, Canada. Being a small town guy with big-time music dreams, he decided one day to pack up is life & leave with only a suitcase in his hand & a guitar on his back.

After spending years honing his craft with brother Steven Vegas (Drums) in London, Montreal, New York & Atlanta, it's only when he landed in Dallas that he met talented fellow singer/songwriter Bart Van Bemmel (Guitar/Back Vocals) winner of the inaugural VH-1 Across America Contest & friend Barak Seguin (Bass/Back Vocals).

As their chemistry developed into a brotherhood, they teamed up to play at various Texas venues & created many projects (see “Other accomplishments” below) together to fine tune a sound all their own & unleash their full potential with Evan Spade.

After spending most of 2008 writing new material with Van Bemmel & working behind the scene, Evan Spade headed back into the studio for a few months with 2-time Grammy winner producer Eric Delegard & Grammy-nominated Alex Gerst to record new songs including single HIT Human Cannonball, Joyride, *NYC & *Bird’s Eye View (BEV).
*See bottom of the bio

Getting momentum, their unique sound quickly earns recognition on the national & international stage:

Soon after its release, the catchy Human Cannonball landed in the hands of legendary DJ Redbeard, Billboard Award Winner & producer/host of the nationally syndicated show In The Studio who proclaimed "I have to start my day with the breakfast of champions, Human Cannonball -- twice! I'm convinced now more than ever that it's a mass-appeal HIT!"

The same song is gettin TV/Film consideration in Los Angeles (SYNCHUP) for placement on Major Televison Networks & syndicated shows in 2009.

The songs Bird's Eye View & Joyride (instrumental versions) have been added to Human Factor's catalog (February 09) for TV Shows consideration (Discovery Channel).

1 of their videos, "Joyride", will air in 67 american cities & 4500 colleges across the US (with SweptawayTV)on the PBS channels, college, community & education channels reaching a potential of 12 millions households!

Their music was selected to be featured during the month of february/March/April 2009 on Skope radio (www.skopemag.com) amongst artists like Seal, Jay-Z, 50 cents & Eminem.
1 of their videos, Joyride, is also available & featured in rotation on the main page of www.skopemag.com.

They were in the top 5 most listened indie/unsigned artist during the week of January 18th on XFM uploaded in London, England (www.xfmuploaded.co.uk).

They gained exposure in Canada after being interviewed & featured on a major radio station "Radio Energie" in late 2008/2009, where they talked about the band and its projects & played the 1st single Human Cannonball to their listeners.

In march 09, they came in 4th in a major National contests on www.picktheband.com, where about 1000 bands had registered to compete. CEO Roie Avin have contacted the band to talk music placement dedicated to TV series/Films.

The band also ranked 8th amongst 2315 rock bands after their 1st single Human Cannonball was entered in an international contest (Famecast) competing for a chance to win some exposure in the well known SPIN magazine after gathering the most votes from the fans during the first 2 weeks of the contest in November 08.

Their music has been picked up by many internet radio stations (Bandradio.com, Mvyradio.com & Award Winning Indie104-iRadioLA at www.indie104.com) & will be heard 24/7 starting January 2009.
They were just added to www.unheardradio.com, radio station that gets about 1 million hits every month & will be heard starting May 1st 09 on Upstream radio (usa4real.com).

The band got the attention of Grammy-Winner (for his work with Elvis Costello) producer Jimbo Mataus, after submitting the songs in a songwriting competition & showed interest in working with the band in the future.

The song Bird's Eye View was a runner-up in the final round of the 2008 Singer/Songwriter awards presented by We Are Listening. The song was reviewed by judges including: KK (Producer-Dido/Nelly Furtado), Steve Wiliams (Producer-Sting/Seal/Eric Clapton), Carly Vermes (Music Supervisor-Paramount pictures) & Scott Gunter (Creative director/Publisher for Universal Music Pulishing) just to name a few.

Press reviews written by AwakenMusic & Sweptaway TV are now available on their website(awakenmusic.blogspot.com, www.sweptawaytv.com) & more reviews are scheduled during the year.

Evan Spade is currently back in the studio with longtime collaborators Eric Delegard & Alex Gerst to finish the album.

2 videos have already been released & a 3rd one will be on the way in 09.

* Their Tracks NYC & Bird’s Eye View caught the attention of producer Alex Gerst & took them under his wing to record the songs. The song BEV (while it was still just a demo) was featured on Kiss FM in Ottawa (Ontario) Canada & dominated the Pop/Rock Awards voting for 2 weeks straight, eventually winning Best Male Vocals, Production, Lyrics, Mood, Feel-Good Track, Potential Movie Soundtrack, and Melody & Drums, out of more than 500 active Pop/Rock bands on Garageband.com.

NYC (while it was still just a demo) landed in the top finalists of the David Ivory Song Competition amongst hundreds of bands submissions & also earned them a premier slot at the Dallas music festival.
